Our 2015-2016 School Year Curriculum has arrived!!
AND it is all set up too.
Bubba (my oldest) will be in 5th grade. Rea (my middle child) will be starting Kindergarten. Oh where has the time gone? I remember saying when Bubba goes to Kindergarten (since it is all day), I would go and finish my bachelor’s. Well we had Rea. I said the same thing for her, but KB (the baby) came along and is in half-day preschool. One day I will finish my bachelor’s. One day. I must admit it was depressing to watch my super smart hubby start and finish his bachelor’s degree in 2 years. TWO-freaking-YEARS. The last time I was in college was 2004. So one day.
Back to our snazzy curriculum. Bubba is using Sonlight. We started this year for 4th grade with Core D & E Condensed. It was an in depth look at our nation’s history from Christopher Columbus to modern day. Bubba really enjoyed this year. We have one week left and we are saying goodbye to 4th grade. 5th grade is Core F. It is study of the Eastern Hemisphere – Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the South Pacific. Let’s just say he already wants to start when we haven’t finished this year. That makes me feel like a winner at the crazy homeschool thing.
Rea has us going back to where we first started (and miserably failed) at homeschooling. She is using Abeka Books for Kindergarten – Five-Year-Old. We bought her the K5 Child Kit (Manuscript). It covers the basics – phonics, reading, language arts, science, and math. We added a few things to compliment the kit – Art, Bible Activity, Social Studies, and a Summer Reading Set with 54 books in it. The moment it arrived, she was flipping through and answering the questions she knew aloud. I think next year will be amazing!!
5th Grade – Sonlight: Core F
Kindergarten- Abeka: K5
