Happiness is Social Media Friendships. I know what you are thinking, “Are you insane?” Some days I feel like it. I am just kidding, or am I?
I have a serious love/hate relationship with social media. There are days when I want to delete all my accounts, mostly Facebook. I find all the posts about “fake lives” disgusting. Most of us know everyone has dirty laundry behind their doors. Some choose to air it. Some choose to cover it up with more garbage. So yes, there is a serious love/hate relationship there. Why do I love it?
It’s simple. I have friends and family all over the world. If it weren’t for social media, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with any of then. Long gone are the days of hand-written letters. I miss hand-written letters. Marty and I have a container full of them. The first few years of our marriage were written on paper that traveled the globe. They have a cozy home in the warm attic these days. I still read them once in a while when I am feeling nostalgic.
Recently I learned of a tragedy that happened to a friend’s family. I wouldn’t have been able to find out if it weren’t for Facebook and Instagram. It keeps Marty and I close to family and friends since we don’t live in Miami with them all. Social media has it downfalls. However, for the most part, it’s good.
Social Media is also good for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to share with the world their products. I am one of those people. I used social media for my photography business years ago and now for my skincare business and this blog. I hope you have enjoyed this journey of happiness with me. I must admit, October has been a roller coaster for sure. I have had great days and low days. All of it has opened my eyes to what I find provides me happiness and what really does.
Stick around. We are almost done!
