Happiness is a Golden Retriever and a Schnoodle. Oh how I love my fur babies; my very furry babies.
If you have followed me for a while then you may remember the sad day we had to put our beloved Hercules to sleep. His heart murmur had progressed to congestive heart failure. I noticed the change in him on Christmas evening. It all went south from there.
It was a short 7 weeks and boom, he was gone. The time whirled past us before I had much time to think or process it all. That was February 2015. No one in this house has gotten over Hercules yet, not even Lu, our Golden Retriever.
Lu came to us in May of 2010. My sister-in-law wanted to know if we wanted her because she was too big for their place. Lu was 3 months old when she arrived from Miami and immediately became Hercules’ best friend. They became inseparable.
After Hercules passed on, Lu was sad. She stayed sad for a very long time. A few months ago we were in Miami visiting family. My sister-in-law’s fur baby had just given birth. Marty never gets excited over dogs or puppies. All of a sudden he was over top happy to see these little puppies with teeny, tiny ears.
It was then that we knew one of those babies was ours. When we were finally able to get one of the remaining little Schnoodles (Schnauzer-Poodle), it was Dory who came home with us.
Lu immediately liked her. Dory was not so sure and quite frankly scared. Dory has been home with us for about 7 weeks now and we just love her. She has settled in with us and knows this is her home. She drives me crazy but she is so dang cute!!
