Happiness equals spending money? Some of us will answer YES. That doesn’t mean we live in excruciatingly painful amounts of debt to “keep up with the Joneses”. I am sure there are some people out there like that. However, Marty and I don’t live that way.
For me, spending money does equal happiness. I am happy when we eat out. I suck at cooking and have burned water more times than I care to admit to. So yes, spending money in this department equals happiness.
I am not saying we eat fast food daily because we don’t. I love to hang out at a sit down restaurant and enjoy the company around me as well as not having to fix the food myself. It’s sadly a lifestyle I became accustomed to after my parents split up. So in my formative years, I was eating at various restaurants with my dad and enjoying life.
Fast forward to today. Marty’s work schedule is so chaotic that when he’s home we will dine out a lot together because we will already be out and about. Each week you can find me and the bees having lunch with my dad. It’s a tradition between us. We’ve been having lunch together almost weekly for over a decade now.
For me, happiness does come with spending money. I am not acquiring “things” but I am creating memories and not having to worry about food. Would my budget and wallet be happier with a new form of happy? Probably. Or maybe not.
Does your happiness come with spending money?
