Happiness is Beautiful Skin. There, I said it. Over the years, I have had an internal struggle for beautiful skin. In my opinion, all women want younger looking skin even though they may say they don’t. For us, it’s a catch 22.
When I was 17 and still a senior in high school, my friend gave me an Oil of Olay Christmas gift set. To be honest, I was kind of saddened by the gift. I had went out of my way to find something unique that I thought she would love. I got a gift box set from a retailer that probably had no thought behind it.
I know that sounds harsh to say but I was bummed. Even though the gift wasn’t “awesome” or “cool”, I still used it. The bundle included body wash, a loofah, face wash, and face moisturizer. I used the products daily until I ran out. Then I started buying them monthly. I was hooked on making my skin look and feel young.
Fast forward to today. I am still young, just not 17 young. Over the years I have switched skin care products as my face changed. After 3 kids, your skin and hair start doing whatever they want. I would purchase very expensive products every month and lather my face in it. My brain was telling me that the more money I spent, the better the quality. That is a yes and a no. The products wouldn’t work and I constantly thought they may be watering these creams down because I wasn’t seeing results and my wallet was constantly empty.
In September, I finally broke down and purchased one skin care product from Rodan + Fields. ONE. I was over spending hundreds and hundreds a month for what? Nothing. I had been on the fence about the products since last year and finally just did it. If it didn’t work, it wasn’t as much money down the drain. Who seriously has this mentality? Me.
This is where it gets crazy. The cream I started using started working right away. Within 6 weeks I partnered with Rodan + Fields to bring skin care to people I knew and met. I started using the full regimens on my face. The products work. The really do. I rarely put on makeup these days. I don’t need to . I am happy with my skin. I am happy with what my face looks like without makeup. I have finally found a skin care line that does what it says it will do.
Since partnering with Rodan + Fields, I have come across many women who tell me they don’t care about their skin or what it looks like. Y’all. I am not talking about one woman. I am talking about double digits. While I won’t ever pressure them to try any products, I was completely blown away. My first thought went back to a quote from The Real Housewives of Orange County. I know, it’s straight up garbage but it’s the kind I love to hate. I will paraphrase here but Alexis Bellino stated in an interview that – “You better look like the mistress or he will find one”. Again I am paraphrasing. However, that comment has stuck with me for almost a decade. Do I think my husband would leave me? No. But I still want my husband to find me beautiful and attractive. I don’t want my lack of skin care or even poor quality skin care make me look much older than I am.
It’s the catch 22. We want beautiful skin but don’t always want to spend the time or money on it. < — (click this link)
