And we are back at it. I tried to teach over the break but that was just plain stupid. No one wanted to budge. We all slept in until 9:30/10 every morning.
Even this morning was late. The kids rolled out of bed around the same time, 9:30-10. Breakfast was at 10am, lunch at 2pm, and dinner at 8pm. We were rather off. Off by a lot.
The times may have been jacked up, but I got one kid to do school work today. The younger two actually played in their room. That will probably never happen again. They played and I was able to teach with some peace.
2 lessons in math. We use Teaching Textbooks. It is great. I was able to vacuum while he worked with his headphones and dry erase board.
4 lessons in science. We covered genes, the heart, and proteins. It may seem all over the place but it falls into place just fine. We are done for the entire week for science. I loved being able to discuss dominant and recessive genes, heart rate and being active, and how proteins work in the body. We use Sonlight. It is broken down by day and I enjoy all that it covers.
1 lesson in language arts. We have struggled with language arts this year. I can’t find one thing that makes me happy. I’ve bought a few curriculums already this year. This one is from Barnes and Noble. It’s not too bad. He isn’t struggling like before.
1 lesson in reading comprehension. He struggles with this. He reads so quickly to “finish” that he misses so much. I can say it is because he is a boy or because he is lazy, but I just don’t know. This workbook has been a great add on for our year. He has to read out loud and then answer the questions with me.
I don’t know what tomorrow will be like. I am nervous since today went by fairly smoothly.
